This report was presented to the South and West Regional Health Authority Development and Evaluation Committee in 1996.  The report contained an economic evaluation of the ODFS using data collected in the original randomised controlled trial and additional data collected from people who had MS.  The committee reviewed the evidence and recommended the use of FES for correction of dropped foot in upper motor neurone conditions for use in the NHS.  This gave us the remit to start our clinical FES service.
